TAIPEI -- Taiwan's main trade promotion body opened an office in Chengdu City — its fifth in China — to expand its service network and help more Taiwanese companies seek business opportunities in western China.
Adding to the existing offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Qingdao, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said its new Chengdu office will invite Chinese businessmen to place procurement orders in Taiwan and promote cooperation in the service sectors of the two sides.
TAITRA Vice Chairman San Gee said during the inauguration ceremony that launching the new office in the capital of Sichuan Province means that the council is looking forward to the business development and consumer market potential there.
To that end, representatives of the Chengdu office and the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province also signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
