'Love flight' to take China couples on date to Taipei

SHANGHAI--Spring Airlines, a Shanghai-based budget carrier, launched a “love flight” from Shanghai to Taipei yesterday, carrying seven Chinese men and seven Chinese women on an onboard blind date.

The 14 met in person for the first time after the plane took off, according to Spring Airlines, which organized the promotional event.

In a 20-minute session, the men introduced themselves one by one to each of the women, who indicated their preference by pressing a light switch on their armrests.

The men then decided whether or not to return the compliment, the airline said.

Upon their arrival in Taiwan, the Chinese couples embarked on a four-day tour, accompanied by a Taiwanese man and a Taiwanese woman selected to join the activity, Spring Airlines said.
