Vincent Siew, who was Taiwan's vice president from May 2008 through May 2012, is scheduled to arrive on the Indonesian resort island Saturday to attend the Oct. 7-8 APEC economic leaders' summit on behalf of President Ma Ying-jeou.
Arrangements are being made for Siew and Xi to meet on Oct. 6 on the sidelines of the annual event, aides to Taiwan and China's delegations to the APEC leaders' week said.
Siew and Xi are expected to discuss cross-Taiwan Strait trade and economic cooperation, a bilateral service trade agreement signed in June, a cross-strait merchandise trade pact being negotiated and regional economic integration, the aides said.
