Kuo Shan-hui, chairman of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, said the agreement, which will not take effect until it receives approval from the Legislature, would facilitate business development on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Speaking at a dinner hosted in Taichung by the Straits Exchange Foundation — which handles bilateral ties via a Chinese counterpart — Kuo said that many were left disappointed when the agreement did not immediately relax investment barriers despite having been signed by both sides on June 21.
The sentiment was echoed by Hector Yeh, the head of a Taiwanese business association in Shanghai.
