TRA would share tips for railway lunches with China

TAIPEI--The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) said yesterday it would be happy to share with others its experience in preparing and marketing its popular boxed lunches, which reportedly have won high praise even in China.

TRA officials said they have been very surprised at the apparent popularity of the product in China but said no one from the mainland has actually contacted the administration on the matter.

According to the Chinese-language United Daily News, a railway publishing house on China is planning to send people on a fact-finding tour of Taiwan's railway services, with a special focus on boxed lunches supplied by the TRA.

The TRA now sells an average of 18,000 boxed lunches per day, up from 16,000 in 2011 and 14,000 in 2010, according to agency statistics.
