Pingtan joint operation must operate under the ECFA: MaBy Grace Soong, The China Post March 22, 2012, 12:27 am TWN    The government's attitude is always Taiwan-centered when dealing with this kind of problem, emphasized Ma, who is also the chairperson of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT), when questioned by KMT members at the KMT Central Standing Committee. Rather than being subject to the “one country, two systems” scheme and its political ramifications, Chen proposed last Friday that the best way to discuss the project would be under the ECFA, specifically Article 6, which would help Taiwan identify mainland China's true motives. As over 80 percent of Republic of China (R.O.C.) citizens disagree with the “one country, two systems” idea proposed by the PRC, Ma reiterated yesterday that talks on the Pingtan project should be only based off of the ECFA. The “one country, two systems” scheme was suggested by former People's Republic of China (PRC) leader Deng Xiaoping (鄧小平) brought up in the 1980s, which entails unification of Taiwan and mainland China, with Taiwan existing as a region with an independent capitalist economic and political system. 1 Comment |

What is wrong in selling and exporting Taiwanese expertise overseas given the invited opportunity? It is not as if it is fully required in Kaohsiung at this stage. These managers may as well go over and earn money back for Taiwan and maybe pick up more skills which can benefit Taiwan in international trade. In the long run, stop trying to curry favor with the pan green all the time Ma, take off your blinkers for your next term in office and do what is needed for the country and the cross strait relationships. Ma, stop trying to be a "nice" guy and end up being an indecisive failure, not liked by the pan green but also by the voters who barely trusted you and decide to give you a second chance to be a good President.
