Cross-strait commission holds 2nd China meeting

HANGZHOU, China--A second meeting of the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Commission was held Tuesday in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

The meeting, headed by Taiwan's Vice Economics Minister Francis Liang and Jiang Yaoping, China's vice minister of commerce, was held to review the implementation of the early-harvest program of the economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) signed in 2010, as well as to provide a platform for the two sides to exchange views on details regarding the establishment of representative offices by nonprofit industrial associations.

There are six groups under the commission, which meets every six months. They cover trade in goods and services, investment, dispute settlement, industrial cooperation and customs cooperation.

Its first meeting was held Feb. 22 in Taiwan.
