China tourists make up majority of travelers to Taiwan last yearThe DGBAS, using statistics compiled by the Ministry of Transportations and Communications (MOTC), cited a 27.7 percent increase in the total number of overseas visitors to Taiwan (whether for business or leisure) from January to November 2010 compared to the year before. Mainland Chinese visitors made up the bulk of the number, at 1,509,000 people, a 71.5 percent increase from the number recorded in the period last year. There were 979,000 Japanese visitors and 711,000 people from Hong Kong and Macau, increases of 7.5 and 10 percent, respectively. Visitors from mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong and Macau made up 64 percent of all travelers to Taiwan. | |||||||||||||
