The council will be headed by Lin Cheng-kuo, a former finance minister, for interactions with its counterpart body — the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Cooperation and Promotion Council — newly formed in Hong Kong, a special administrative region under the authority of China. The office of the new council will be located in the same office building of the MAC. Consultations on new flight agreements between Taiwan and Hong Kong as well as common efforts in the field of public health will rank high on the cooperation agenda between the two sides. Other major tasks for the two organizations will cover cooperation in other fields, including financial regulation and supervision, avoidance of double taxation, tourism, culture, sports events, and document certification and authentication.
