Second ECFA talks to be held by mid-March in Taipei

According to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the two sides will negotiate the trade pact in several stages.

The first stage will focus on urgent issues stemming from the inauguration of the China-Association of Southeast Asian Nations free trade area, with the goal of including the most- affected sectors on early harvest lists compiled by Taiwan and China of items that will be first to be covered by the ECFA, the official said.

The two sides hope to sign a simple framework agreement within the first half of this year before further negotiations on other details, he said.
