Chinese business leaders travel with ARATS head to Taiwan

Beijing -- More than a dozen business leaders traveled across the Taiwan Strait Monday with China's top negotiator to Taiwan for the latest round of cross-strait talks.

Chen Yunlin, president of Beijing-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, arrived in the central city of Taichung that day at the head of a 79-member delegation to take part in his fourth round of talks with Chiang Pin-kung, chairman of the Taipei-based Straits Exchange Foundation, scheduled for Dec. 21-23.

The two cross-strait intermediary bodies will meet Wednesday to discuss Chinese investment in Taiwan, prompting the Chinese business leaders to travel with Chen to learn more about the country's investment environment.

Some of the more notable delegation members include Shang Biyi, vice president of China Shipbuilding Industry Corp., Xu Lirong, executive vice president of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company, Shi Hongxiang, vice president of the State Development & Investment Corp., Chen Lang, president of China Resources Enterprise and Liang Xiang, counselor of China Investment Corporation.
