Cross-strait trade falls 36.7% in first half of yearTotal trade between the two sides amounted to roughly US$43.03 billion in the first six months of this year, with exports to Taiwan making up approximately US$8.3 billion, while Taiwanese exports to Taiwan amounted to roughly US$34.8 billion. The statistics also show falling Taiwanese investment in China during the period. Mainland authorities approved 1,143 Taiwanese investments, down 4.2 percent when compared with the same period last year. The total value of those investments was US$870 million, a decrease of 12.5 percent. | |||||||||||||
