400 Citi Volunteers Participate in Charity Car Wash for 2017 Citi Global Community Day

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Celebrating its 12th annual Citi Global Community Day (GCD), Citibank Taiwan partnered with the Yu-Cheng Social Welfare Foundation to hold a charity car wash on June 10 in Dazhi, Taipei. More than 400 Citi volunteers participated in the charitable event, raising funds for the Taipei-based foundation in a bid to help them set up a "learning cafe" for young people with mental and intellectual disabilities to acquire skills. Cheng Cheng-mount, Vice Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), Taipei Department of Labor Commissioner Lai Hsiang-lin and Deputy Commissioner Chen Hui-chi also attended today's Global Community Day volunteer event. In addition, in an effort to demonstrate its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Citibank Taiwan today released the first Corporate Social Responsibility Report (CSR Report) in Taiwan, which embodies the leading bank's CSR performance in 2016.

"To 'Be The Best' is the vision of Citi's employees around the globe. Recently, Citi has been recognized as the Best Foreign Bank in Taiwan for 21 consecutive years by FinanceAsia. In addition to pursue excellence, Citi Taiwan has been actively contributed to society." said Paulus Mok, Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Taiwan. "The annual Global Community Day is the best embodiment of our commitment to our local communities." This year's GCD in Taiwan have kicked off in Northern, Central and Southern Taiwan since May, focusing on three major topics including ecological sustainability, animal protection and support for disadvantaged groups. The bank called on more than 1,600 Citi employees, family and friends to work together and become the enhancing power of this island. Today's event centers on support for disadvantaged groups and youth employment issues that Citigroup has followed in recent years. "Through today's charity car wash and fundraising event, we help the Yu-Cheng Social Welfare Foundation to set up the 'learning cafe' – a space for young adults with mental and intellectual disabilities to develop professional skills and become self-reliant," Mok said.

"Citi has taken root in Taiwan for more than five decades," Mok further pointed out. "We have long fulfilled our corporate social responsibility with real action. In some cases, we actively promote environmental protection, community care and support, financial education, and hope education." In a move to further achieve corporate social responsibility, Citi has spontaneously compiled its CSR Report this year to embody the four major achievements of Connection, Inspiration, Trust, and Innovation in 2016. "Today, we launch our first CSR Report, which symbolizes the results and continuous progress of environmental, social and corporate governance that all Citi employees pursued last year," he noted.
