Sparks to be ignited for dialog

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Under the theme "culture explosion" (我們在文化裡爆炸), the Creative Expo Taiwan (CET, 臺灣文博會) opens today and will run until Sunday, April 23.

Entering its seventh year, the occasion hopes to stimulate discourse on contemporary Taiwanese culture and further innovate and elevate the cultural and creative industry. At the three venues of Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914文創園區), Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (松山文創園區) and Taipei Expo Park (花博公園), the products on display all come from local materials and share a common care for society.

It's not just a five-day exhibition, CET has designated the entire month of April as a month of culture with a series of related activities. To make the industry more approachable and relevant to daily life, nine tourism routes have been mapped out to promote local cultures and produce. Also, with 379 fringe shops located in 12 cities and counties — falling under the categories of "Food and Drink," "Handicrafts," "Lifestyle" and "Exhibition Space" — the influence of CET is able to go beyond the walls of its exhibition halls.

Taking the event to the next level is the launch of the CET APP, enabling users to look at event schedules in advance, search for exhibitors at all three venues and to locate fringe shops across Taiwan. The three venues are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the exhibition, with April 19 and 20 being exclusive to professional buyers, but opening to the public from April 21. ■
