Taiwan's Chan Yung-jan advances to ITF finals

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwanese professional tennis player Chan Yung-jan beat Junri Namigata of Japan 6-2 and 7-5 yesterday at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) women's tournament in Gimhae, South Korea to reach the finals.

It was the second time Chan and Namigata were facing off. Their first encounter was in Seoul in 2009 when Chan also defeated Namigata.

With her victory over the fourth-seeded Namigata at the ITF tournament, Chan has gone through to the finals.

Chan, ranked 91st in the world, is the top-seeded player in the ITF tournament that was opened on April 12 and will run through April 18. She is also the only player in the tournament who is on the world's top-100 list.
