Beautiful design can help beautify int'l image: Shih

To achieve this goal, the government has made great efforts to encourage the industry to combine creativity and aesthetics into everyday products, the minister said at an international conference organized by the Chinese Institute of Design in central Taiwan's Taichung City.

For example, many of the pieces on display at a design show in the Taipei World Trade Center last week were created by students and young talent, Shih said, pointing out such quality creations reflect the vibrancy and design achievements of local universities.
