TAIPEI--Taiwan's National Palace Museum has won two gold medals at the American Association of Museums' MUSE awards, being the only Asian museum to win a prize and the only museum to seize two top honors in this year's competition.
The internationally renowned museum came top in the category of interpretive interactive installations with an audio-visual interpretation of a 660-year-old Chinese painting and won the category of multimedia installations with an animated version of an ancient Chinese hand scroll.
The interpretation of Huang Gongwang's 1350 painting “Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountain” and related historical documents involves animation, touch screens, music, light and shadow and magical theater technologies to draw the viewers in, the museum said Thursday.
