Updated Friday, November 20, 2009 5:30 pm TWN, By Rachel Chan, CNA Picturing America art exhibition to tour Taiwan"Picturing America showcases the United States' rich artistic heritage, and offers insights into the character, ideals, and aspirations of our nation," the AIT said in a statement. "The exhibit uses art as a catalyst for the study of America -- the cultural, political, and historical threads woven over several centuries into the fabric of the United States," it added. According to the statement, the exhibit features 40 framed reproductions of significant American works of art encompassing a wide range of artistic media, including painting, fine crafts, sculpture, photography and architecture. The works include Emanuel Leutze's Washington Crossing the Delaware and Norman Rockwell's Freedom of Speech and architectural masterpieces the Brooklyn Bridge and Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. The AIT also announced that it would offer teaching materials that enable educators to incorporate the images in Picturing America into their classroom instruction.
