'Mama Mia' set to wow Taiwan audiences again

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Super wattage musical Mama Mia is ready to shine on Taiwan audiences again, from now until Nov. 15 at the Taipei Dome.

The musical is a romantic comedy based on more than 20 songs by ABBA, a Swedish band with chart-topping hits in the 70s and 80s.

Classics including “I have a dream,” “Thank you for the music,” “Dancing queen,” “Money, Money, Money” and “Super Trouper” have been integrally weaved into the plot about a girl's search for her father prior to her wedding.

Her plan brought the three men that shared romance with her mother 20 years go to an island paradise in Greece.

Through the characters, audiences experience love, love lost, dreams and dreams broken. The story has touched audiences everywhere since its first showing in London in 1999. More than 40 million people have seen the show.

This widely popular musical has achieved so much success on stage that it was remade into film in 2008.

For this tour in Taiwan, the character of Donna will be played by Helen Hobson and Sophie will be played by Nikki Davis-Jones.
