Yao Tsai-ying cleared of dope addiction charges

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Model Yao Tsai-ying is clean, according to the Veterans General Hospital in Taipei.

She was summoned to appear before Taipei police on suspicion of drug abuse on Feb. 12. Urine samples were collected for laboratory test. There was no reaction to amphetamine, a Veterans General Hospital spokesman said yesterday.

But police insist another test is necessary. Urine tests can detect drugs only one or two days after being taken, police said.

“We hope,” a police spokesman said, “for a drug hair test.”

Hair tests can detect drug use up to one year after the being ingested, according to police.
