Ma, Hsieh to lay out new economic policies

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Presidential candidates Ma Ying-jeou of the Kuomintang and Frank Hsieh of the Democratic Progressive Party have been invited to present their economic policies at a forum in late January organized by several industrial and commercial groups.

Five industrial and commercial associations — including the Chinese National Federation of Industries, the National Association of Small & Medium Enterprises and the General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China — intend to organize a Taiwan Economy Forum to gain a basic understanding of the two presidential candidates’ visions for Taiwan’s economy.

The two candidates are expected to present their platforms and answer questions posed by business and industrial representatives in the forum scheduled for late January, after the conclusion of the legislative elections, organizers said.
