During the period, Taiwan exported US$53.6 billion worth of goods to China and its imports from China amounted to US$20.5 billion, the official said. In September alone, Taiwan’s exports to China totaled US$7.21 billion, up 22.3 percent over last year and accounting for 32.4 percent of Taiwan’s total exports for the month. It marked the third straight month that Taiwan set new record in exports to China since July. China’s growing demands for integrated circuits (IC) , light emitting diodes (LED) ,and print circuit boards (PCB)have contributed to the growth of Taiwan’s exports to China, the official said. The volume of Taiwan’s imports from China in September was US$2.44 billion, an increase of 14.6 from the year-earlier level, and accounting for 12.8 percent of Taiwan’s total import volume for the same month. The figure was second only to the US$2.6 billion record set in July. The increase in imports from China mainly came from Taiwan’s growing demand for automatic data processing machines, coal, cell phone transmitters and audio products, which grew at rates between 25.4 and 90 percent.
