Another sergeant, Liao Wen-tai, picked up a baby sea turtle and made a gesture of eating it up. Both of them had their pictures of cruelty to the sea turtles taken. Neither of them were prosecuted for cruelty to animals on Tuesday, however. Instead, they were required to report to the Kaohsiung city zoo for 160 hours of volunteer work. “It is hoped,” the prosecutor said, “that the two sergeants will learn how to take good care of animals in the zoo.” Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%.
