TAITRA to help local firms enter Russian market

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will invite Russian buyers to two seminars in Taiwan to analyze the trading practices of Russian enterprises in the hope of helping local firms enter that market, a TAITRA official said yesterday.

The official noted that in Russia — one of the promising BRIC countries comprising Brazil, Russia, India and China — English usage is low, making it hard for Taiwanese companies to exploit the market there.

In consideration of this obstacle, TAITRA will invite representatives of several Russian enterprises, including eHouse — one of Russia’s largest e-commerce ventures — and several major jewelers to explain to local firms how Russia, which depends heavily on foreign imports, searches for suitable suppliers around the world.

TAITRA will invite these Russian buyers to a seminar to be held at its Hsinchu office Oct.23, and another at the Taipei International Invention Center Oct. 24, which will be broadcast simultaneously by video conference to TAITRA’s offices in Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung.
