Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibit winners to be announced

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The final results of the 12th Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, organized by the Taichung city government, will be announced at an award ceremony to be held in the central city this weekend, Taichung Mayor Jason Hu said yesterday.

Hu said that unlike many other local governments that gave up organizing such art events years ago, the Taichung city government has continued to hold the event and has attracted an increasing number of entries from home and abroad over the years.

Hu said that this year, the exhibition organizer has received a record of 101 foreign art works — from the United States, Germany, Austria, South Korea, China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Israel, Paraguay, Honduras, Gambia, Peru and South Africa.

Hu said he will personally announce the top five winners, each of whom will receive a cash prize of NT$200,000 (US$6,116).
