Finger wound to blame in two childrens’ death: reportOn Aug. 25 this year, a two-year-old girl and nine-day-old baby died of acute enteritis at the baby-sitting center of the Sheng An Hospital in Kaohsiung. The city’s prosecutors on Tuesday released three examination reports on the girl, surnamed Sun, compiled by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) under the Cabinet-level Department of Health, the Kaohsiung City Bureau of Health, and the forensic medicine institute of the Ministry of Justice. All the reports showed that the throat, brain stem, liver, right kidney, large intestine, small intestine, breast gland, and so on all contained staphylococcus aurcus, a virus that was also found present in a left hand finger wound of a male kitchen worker at the center. But when questioned by prosecutors, the worker denied having a wounded finger and stressed that he had paid great attention to hygiene while cooking at the baby-sitting center. Prosecutors said after further examination reports on the death of the nine-day baby are released, they will try to determine whether the death was caused by the same virus. | |||||||||||||
