Krosa causes over 600,000 household power outagesPower supply has been restored to 340,000 of the households, the officials added. They said the northeastern region has been hit the hardest, with 84,000 households in Keelung and 52,000 households in Yilan experiencing power outages. In Taipei, 35,000 households in the northern district and 17,000 households in the western district were affected, they said. Also affected were 15,000 households in Taoyuan, 8,000 in Hsinchu, 22,000 in Nantou, 19,000 in Miaoli and 24,000 in Taichung, they said. According to the Central Weather Bureau, Typhoon Krosa was centered 30 km north-northeast of Hualien, eastern Taiwan at 4 p.m. Saturday, moving in a northward direction at 12 kph and packing maximum sustained winds of 184 kph. Forecasters at the bureau said Krosa has shown signs of lingering in its present position, with the storm’s 300 km-radius covering the whole of Taiwan proper. | |||||||||||||
