‘Lucky’ families to return Car Free Day prizesTaipei City Councilor Hsu Chia-ching received a report that two families, the Lins and the Chens, had won 26 of the 84 prizes in the activity, according to the United Evening News. Hsu was cited by the paper as saying that the four-member Lin family won eight prizes and the Chens took away 18 items, including eight bicycles. Based on the rules set by the organizers, each person could fill out only one registration form and therefore could not have won more than one prize, according to the paper. Over 15,000 people from Taipei participated in the lucky draw, but most of them were skeptical about its fairness, the paper said. According to Hsu, the two families had also won eight prizes in last year’s Car Free Day activity, as well as seven more bikes in another city government-held activity, the paper added. The governments of Taipei City and County, the joint organizers of this year’s activity, had conducted a fresh lucky draw, an official was cited as saying. | |||||||||||||
