Tainan University to be first complete academyNUTN, established 109 years ago as a normal college during the Japanese colonial era, now operates a number of graduate institutes, colleges, a senior high school, an elementary school, a kindergarten and classes for supplementary education, receiving students aged from two-and-a-half to adults. When the university begins to accept junior high school students, a student could receive his or her entire education and continue throughout his or her life without having to change schools, said Huang Hsiu-shuang, president of the university. With an “extended family” of faculty and students, NUTN is scheduled to relocate its main campus and teaching buildings to a much bigger campus to be located in the Chiku rural township in Tainan County in seven years, Huang said. NUTN is scheduled to celebrate its 110th founding anniversary in 2008, Huang said, adding that noted alumni including Education Minister Tu Cheng-sheng are expected to return to the school for a series of celebratory activities. | |||||||||||||
