Changhua magistrate promotes eel consumptionCho said eels farmed in Changhua County are subjected to three strict tests for drug use before entering the market to ensure that they pose no threat to the health of consumers. The news conference was held to redress the impact of recent controversial reports on drug residue discovered in eels allegedly raised in southern Taiwan. Cho encouraged the public to eat more eels as the fish is rich in protein, vitamins A, D, E, and collagen. Cho suggested consumers to buy eels accompanied by quality certification by the Changhua Fishery Association and Changhua County’s Eel and Shrimp Production Cooperative. He went on that the two organizations have launched eel gift sets for consumers to share with friends and family during the Mid-Autumn festival. | |||||||||||||
