Pictures of the suspect have been posted on streets and in alleyways of the city’s Sungshan, Chungshan, and Daan areas where the incidents occurred. However, the picture, which shows the suspect wearing a white shirt with a dark-colored tie and a helmet, has raised criticism among area residents, who said the suspect’s face is completely indistinguishable Sources said that last month the suspect followed a female victim to her apartment residence and stole her money and also took her ATM card, which he later used to empty her account. He forced her to give him her password under threat of his “gun.” In another incident, the suspect stormed into a kitchen utensils store and robbed four staff members of a total of NT$3,000. After the crime, one of the employees told police that the suspect wore a helmet that covered his face the entire time, and escaped via the back door. The employee said he suspected the gun was not real by the sounds it made while being handled. After investigators reviewed videotape surveillance of the incidents, they concluded that it must be the same person. Police said the suspect is about 30 years old and measures about five foot tall to five foot, three inches tall. He is of medium build. At the time of the robberies, he was wearing a helmet and a mask over his face, black gloves, and dark-colored pants.
