Security stepped up for upcoming United Nations rallies

Both the Kuomintang and Democratic Progressive Party will hold rallies in support of a referendum on Taiwan’s re-entry into the United Nations in Taichung and Kaohsiung, respectively.

In addition, a rally organized by Labor Party chairman Wu Jung-yuan against a referendum on Taiwan’s entry into the United Nations will take place in Taipei.

Taichung City police and Kaohsiung City police have announced traffic restrictions that will be enforced for the rallies.

The Kuomintang rally in Taichung will take place between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and the Democratic Progressive Party rally in Kaohsiung will last from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
