TAIPEI, Taiwan –– The Taiwan Society for Vascular Surgery published yesterday the first

book in Chinese on clinical practice guidelines for vascular disease to help medical personnel as well as patients and their families better understand the disease and its treatment.

Wang Shoei-shen, president of the society, told a press conference that the book was compiled by 12 experts in vascular surgery who spent more than a year working on it.

He said the book is based entirely on clinical practice in the hope of providing the most comprehensive medical knowledge regarding the treatment of vascular disease.

The book has 13 chapters, including one chapter each on the use of angiography for the diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease, carotid endarterectomy and thoracic aortic aneurysm.

Wang said all 12 compilers of the book have decided to donate all their royalties to the Taiwan Society for Vascular Surgery.

He said that diagnosing vascular disease can be a simple, frequently non-invasive process and that the earlier vascular disease is diagnosed and treated, the more effective treatment will be.
