Government raises budget for local firms' internatioal marketing

The Executive Yuan has increased its budget to help local firms develop international marketing strategies to NT$5.5 billion (US$166.57 million) in an effort to receive more export orders, a spokesman for the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said yesterday.

According to the spokesman, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has drafted international marketing strategies for local firms based on the perspectives of market, industry and general economic situation. The project is estimated to benefit about 65,000 local companies.

TAITRA will work with the MOEA’s Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) in organizing four seminars around the nation to explain the government’s services to enterprise owners, with the first seminar to be held in Kaohsiung City Aug. 16, the spokesman said.

BOFT Director-General Huang Chih-peng will explain the government’s beneficial policies and measures to participants at the first seminar, which will be attended by more than 150 local firms in a variety of industries.
