The NT$70 plan charges NT$1.6 for every three minutes, while the NT$95 plan charges NT$1.6 for every 5 minutes. Long distance calls cost NT.0.035 for every second. But starting August 1, Chunghwa Telecom will launch an “unlimited call” program for residential city-call clients for the first time in 40 years. This new program costs an extra NT$100 per month and allows subscribers to make unlimited calls within the firm’s fixed network after 7:00 p.m. every day. Subscribers can also pay an extra NT$160 a month for 100 minutes of long distance call minutes. Chunghwa Telecom executives suggested clients make the extra payment of NT$100 per month if their monthly city calls total three to 5.2 hours. The executives also suggested if clients make over 28.5 minutes of long-distance calls per month, then they could join the extra NT$160 payment program to enjoy 100 minutes of long-distance calls free. Clients interested in joining the promotion offered by Chunghwa Telecom are required to file applications with the firm from Aug.1 through Jan. 31, 2008. New Century InfoComm Tech Co., Ltd. is also offering free local and long-distance calls around the clock within the Sparq fixed network operated by the firm, effective through the end of September.
