Cross-strait seminar about China’s modernization opens

An academic seminar on China’s modernization will kick off today in Xining City of Qinghai Province, China, featuring scholars from both sides of the strait.

The forum, titled “Modernization of China”, organized by the China’s Modernization Promotion Foundation and the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, will be held from July 14 to July 27.

The 17-member delegation from Taiwan is headed by Mei Ko-wang, chairman of the foundation and former president of Tunghai University. Among the delegates are: Hsieh Meng-hsiung, Chai Tsung-chuan, and Cheng Jim-ming, Chinese Culture University professor.

The seminar will discuss modernization in China’s various sectors, including its health care, accounting, and communications industries, and a change in people’s sense of honor due to the modernization efforts.
