hsiung may make his mandatory administrative report on June 1 at the latest. "The ruling party and the opposition have just agreed to extend the current session of the Legislative Yuan until June 15," Wang said.
"Should the agreement be confirmed, I think the new premier would come to the floor by the first day of next month to speak on his policy objectives in the year to come."
The agreement to extend the session of the legislature has to be formally approved in the next plenary meeting of the nation's highest legislative organ scheduled for Friday.
The extension is necessary to act on the 2007 national budget bill, which has been stalled in the Legislative Yuan due to political battles between the ruling and opposition parties. The bill should have been passed by the end of last year.
