Updated Friday, May 11, 2007 0:00 am TWN, The China Post staff Eight suspected gangsters arrested, CIB saysThe main suspect is believed to be Chen Ching-chang, who allegedly led the Sanchung City-based criminal group in violent debt-collecting missions for wealthy clients. According to the CIB, the gang collected overdue payments and resolved land disputes by threatening the debtors with weapons and knives. In several occasions, they also tried to force debtors out of their homes. The CIB was first tipped off about the criminal group at the end of last year, when they received reports of violent confrontations by the gang members in Sanchung City in Taipei County. Chen reportedly stole cash, merchandise, and medicine from a pharmacy in Hsinchuang City with the pretext of collecting a debt. He also partnered with real estate companies and forced people into signing contracts to purchase land from such companies or risk being personally harmed or having property damaged by the gang.
