Updated Tuesday, January 30, 2007 0:00 am TWN, The China Post staff Minister Tu’s son to be transferred to new unitSpokesman Chou Yen-chung of the General Headquarters of Army said in a bid to punish the junior Tu for violating military disciplines, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) has decided to transfer him to serve at a unit under the Army Field Forces to receive further training. Chou said there were three units that Tu could be transferred to, and through a lot drawing, Tu will be switched to the 21th Artillery Command. The defense ministry has come under fire from lawmakers of both the ruling and opposition camps for being too lenient on the junior Tu who was caught by reporters attending a wild party earlier last week. Lawmakers of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party blamed the ministry for being too soft on the junior Tu, whose actions have made his father, the education chief, the target of criticism. They suggested Minister Tu take action to discipline his son with “family rules” so as to dispel criticism for the defense ministry’s allegedly giving special privileges to the younger Tu who is currently serving his mandator military service. Opposition legislators also blasted the ministry for applying double standards to the offspring of ranking officials compared to ordinary servicemen. | Breaking News
