DBS 'Treasures' clients with Torii's soul food

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- As renowned chef Kentaro Torii (鳥居建太郎) redefined “Food for the Soul,” DBS Bank (星展銀行) again indulged DBS Treasures clients with a gastronomic surprise in Taipei.

Not so long after the plates were cleaned in the Underground Supperclub in Kaohsiung in May, which presented Asia Food Channel's (AFC) most popular celebrity chef Martin Yan (甄文達), the secret dining experience surprised DBS Treasures clients in Taipei on Aug. 14-15.

Underground Supperclub in Taipei featured top Japanese chef Torri, who is classically trained in the art of Italian fine dining.

Torii understudied in Italy for three years at the Michelin-starred Ristorante Al Pino in Pavia, learning all the skills required to craft an authentic array of Italian cuisine.

With more than 10 years of experience under his belt helming kitchens in Japan, the U.S., Italy and Singapore, Torii's dishes are impeccable in both taste and presentation, showcasing his deliberation in executing dishes of the utmost quality and with precise detail.

The first DBS Underground Supperclub kicked off with famous chef Sho Naganuma (長沼笙) in 2013 and instantly created a craze among DBS Treasures clients in Taiwan.

DBS Bank said it has looked to host more and more Underground Supperclubs to extend gratitude for epicurean DBS Treasures members in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Jakarta.
