Consolidated sales of listed firms see increase in June

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The consolidated sales of all listed companies in Taiwan totaled NT$2.349 trillion (US$78.25 billion) in June, up 10.37 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by the Taiwan Stock Exchange on Friday.

Among the companies, 542 of them showed an increase, compared with 267 that saw their sales decline.

In the first six months of this year, the consolidated sales of all listed companies had amounted to NT$13.26 trillion, up 5.37 percent year-on-year.

Among them, 524 companies saw revenues grow, while 285 companies' earnings declined.

Major industries that showed growth include the semiconductor, glass and pottery industries, as well as automobile sectors. But construction and construction material, optoelectronics and telecommunication and communications sectors suffered a decline.
