TAIPEI -- China Airlines (CAL,中華航空), Taiwan's largest carrier, said Wednesday that it will lease three new Boeing 737-800 aircraft from U.S.-based Air Lease Corporation (ALC).
CAL said the addition to its fleet of the new 737-800s, scheduled for delivery in 2015 and 2016, will further strengthen its competitiveness in regional services and enhance its overall flight options.
“China Airlines is very pleased to conclude its first transaction with ALC,” said CAL Chairman Sun Huang-hsiang (孫洪祥).
CAL currently operates a fleet of 77 aircraft -- 56 passenger jets and 21 freighters. The airline is also set to introduce 14 A350-900s from 2016 to increase its medium-haul capacity.
