TAIPEI--Acer Inc.'s board of directors approved yesterday the resignation of Chief Financial Officer Eva Ho (何一華), the second high ranking Acer executive to decide to leave the struggling PC maker in the past week.
Ho, who joined Acer in March 2012, tendered her resignation as part of her career plan, Acer said in an e-mailed statement. The vacancy she leaves will be filled by Nancy Hu (胡競英), former vice chairwoman and president of television network Videoland Inc.
Acer said the management change is "part of a well-planned transition" and will take effect May 1.
Hu is regarded as "valuable talent for Acer," which is seeking to transform itself into a "hardware plus software plus services" company and looking for fresh and diverse ways of thinking, the statement said.
The announcement came a week after Acer's board of directors approved March 27 the retirement plan of Scott Lin, senior corporate vice president and president of Greater China regional operations, after a 30-year stint with the company.
Y.H. Zhang will assume the position of president of Acer's China regional operations May 1, while Towny Huang will be appointed president of Acer's Taiwan regional operations, the company said.
