Pandamania spreads on popular messaging app

TAIPEI--A series of stickers for the messaging app Line featuring Taiwan's panda cub and a Formosan black bear has proved a hit with subscribers, the Taipei city tourism department said Wednesday.

Less than 24 hours after its launch, the series had generated over 2.4 million downloads, a record high for this type of publicity drive, according to the city.

The virtual stickers have been sent 2.88 million times via online messages, the city said, citing LINE data.
