TAIPEI--Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. is scheduled to kick off a massive recruitment campaign today, as it tries to hire 15,000 new employees this year for future business expansion.
The world's largest contract electronics maker, best known for making Apple's iPhones and iPads, said the employees will be recruited in Taiwan but do not need to be Taiwanese nationals. Hon Hai said the company welcomes different nationalities in an attempt to blend different cultures and background into its working environment.
The manufacturer said the recruitment activity is part of the company's efforts to expand its investments in Taiwan and work with the country to build a technology-based economy.
At the same time, the company is also trying to accelerate its efforts in transforming its business in the first half of this year to diversify from being simply a hardware manufacturer to a software and hardware designer, innovator and all-purpose technology partner for its clients.
As a result, the company is targeting young talent in a wide range of areas, such as the 4G network, cloud-based technology, electronics commerce, electronics/electrical engineering, production automation, software development, biotech and optoelectronics.
At the same time, the company is gearing up to develop the so-called "eight screens, one network and one cloud" sector. Eight screens refer to smartphones, tablets, notebooks, LED screens, all-in-one desktops, portable televisions, smart TVs, and electronic whiteboards.
The first stop of Hon Hai's 2014 recruitment activity will be National Taiwan University, where it will seek young engineering talent. Qualified applicants will work in the company's factories located in northern, central and southern Taiwan.
Hon Hai said it will offer a starting salary of more than NT$36,000 (US$1,188) to new employees with a bachelor's degree and no less than NT$45,000 to master's degree holders.
To encourage its employees to work hard, Hon Hai said, it will dole out performance bonuses and bonus stocks at certain periods a year, and will provide scholarships to staff who want to pursue a higher degree to enrich their knowledge.
Hon Hai said the company is also determined to take good care of its employees' health by providing daily healthcare services from a professional medical team and periodic check-ups.
After working for the company for some time, Hon Hai said, its employees will have a chance to be sent to its overseas production sites located in the United States, Indonesia, Japan and China.
