Electric buses to go into service in South Taiwan

TAIPEI--Twenty-two electric public buses will go into service in Kaohsiung and Pingtung County on March 1 in a state-subsidized green program jointly proposed by major public bus operators in Southern Taiwan.

The largest electric public bus fleet in Taiwan will run on national freeways and city streets and will also serve tourist spots, offering Kaohsiung and Pingtung people a low-carbon public transportation option.

As part of efforts to promote the new service, riders on the electric buses running on the Linbian Railway Station-Dapeng Bay-Donggang Ferry Terminal route in Pingtung County will be given fare reductions between March 1 and Aug. 31, according to the Pingtung Bus Co.
