Taiwan to boost relations with province of Canada

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's main trade promotion body signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with its counterpart in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) Monday to promote bilateral trade, education and tourism exchanges.

Peter Huang, president and CEO of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and Cheryl Paynter, CEO ofInnovation PEI, signed the MOU at a ceremony in Taipei.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by TAITRA Chairman Wang Chih kang and PEI Premier Robert Ghiz. It marked the first time a Canadian premier had visited Taiwan since 1993.
