Facial masks best sellers of 2013 on Web shopping site

TAIPEI -- “My Beauty Diary” facial masks have emerged as the best seller for 2013 on the Taiwan-based online shopping site Momoshop, with over 5 million pieces sold, according to statistics released by the company Monday.

The facial masks cost between NT$99 and NT$299 (US$3.3 and US$10) per pack, depending on the ingredients used.

Coming in second is “Health” organic chestnuts, followed by “Wasuka” chocolate wafer rolls, “Livi” tissue paper and “Calbee” potato sticks.

Momoshop said the sales of day-to-day items have increased 50 percent this year from last year. More than 18 million packs of tissue paper overall were sold, which, if piled on top of each other, would be equivalent to the height of 4,000 of Dubai's Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the tallest building in the world, the company said.

The online store also released a list of products that have experienced a sudden burst of popularity this year, including wireless bras and mobile power supplies.
