Taoyuan magistrate leads delegation to HK to attract investors for aerotropolis

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taoyuan Magistrate John Wu (吳志揚) led a delegation to visit Hong Kong yesterday, in an effort to attract more investment for the Taoyuan Aerotropolis.

The Taoyuan Aerotropolis, a large urban planning development at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, is one of the key developments under the government's Free Economic Pilot Zone project.

Wu led a delegation to hold an investment-seeking visit for the Taoyuan Aerotropolis at the World Trade Center in Hong Kong.

Wu consulted with the management of Hong Kong International Airport, and exchanged opinions on subjects related to airport services such as logistics, exhibitions and hotels.

Wu said that the Taoyuan Aerotropolis is expected to begin service by the end of the year. It is one of the biggest economic projects Taiwan has seen in recent years. As such, he would like to introduce the project to the people of Hong Kong, a city that has fruitful experience in trade and airport development.

There are many international investors in Hong Kong. According to the management of the Hong Kong International Airport, every airport has its unique characteristics, and modeling other airports may not necessarily yield great results. The management cautioned representatives from Taoyuan to orchestrate a sound development plan for the Taoyuan Aerotropolis.

Wu said that the management of Hong Kong International Airport had advised the delegation from Taiwan on the development of exhibition, logistics and hotels at the Taoyuan Aerotropolis.

Before the visit to Hong Kong, the delegation had visited several cities in the province of Guangdong, promoting Taoyuan's tourism and agricultural products.
