Gasoline prices stay the same, diesel to go up NT$0.1: firms

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- CPC Corp. announced yesterday that its gasoline prices will remain the same as last week, but that its diesel price will be increased NT$0.1 per liter, effective today.

Formosa Petrochemical Corp. made the same announcement on the same day.

Starting today, CPC Corp. will be selling its 92-grade unleaded gasoline for NT$33.9 per liter, 95-grade unleaded gasoline for NT$35.4 per liter, 98-grade unleaded gasoline for NT$37.4 per liter and super diesel for NT$32.9 per liter.

According to the state-owned oil refinery, international oil prices have risen due to expansions in the manufacturing industries of the world's major economies and due to a decrease in U.S. commercial crude oil stockpiles.

The oil refiner added that the weekly average price for oil now stands at US$109.46 per barrel, a week-on-week increase of US$0.22; meanwhile, the New Taiwan dollar has shed NT$0.005 against the greenback.
